Zaid Ashai

Zaid Ashai is the Chairman and CEO of Nexamp, a leading clean energy company expanding access to affordable community solar and energy storage across the United States. Under his leadership, Nexamp has grown into one of the most innovative and trusted platforms in distributed clean energy, focused on making renewable power more accessible and equitable for households, businesses, and communities nationwide. Nexamp is backed by strategic investors including Mitsubishi Corporation, Manulife, and Generate Capital, and in 2025 raised $2.8 billion to accelerate its growth and expand its impact across the country.
Before joining Nexamp’s executive team, Zaid was a General Partner at Point Judith Capital, overseeing investments in breakthrough energy businesses. He led investments in MyEnergy, Retroficiency, Power Assure, Powerhouse Dynamics, Sparkcharge, Saturday Robotics, Mederva, and Livedocs. He previously worked at Good Energies as a Kauffman Fellow focused on next-generation clean technologies and began his career in private equity with HarbourVest Partners and as an investment banking analyst in Credit Suisse’s Technology Group.
Zaid holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School, where he was named a Zuckerman Fellow, as well as a degree in International Relations and Economics from Brown University. He serves on the board of Vote Solar, reflecting his conviction that clean energy must be both scalable and inclusive, and is also a member of the Brown Alumni Association Board of Governors.
