Mahrukh Hussain

Mahrukh Hussain has 30 years of experience as a trusted legal advisor and corporate executive. She currently serves as General Counsel & Corporate Secretary for United Natural Foods, Inc. (NYSE: UNFI), a Fortune 150 company and North America's premier grocery wholesaler delivering products to more than 30,000 retail locations throughout North America. At UNFI, Mahrukh is a member of the C-suite, serves as an advisor to the Board of Directors, and leads the Legal, Compliance, Risk Claims, Regulatory, Sustainability and Impact, and Government Relations functions.
Prior to UNFI, Mahrukh worked at McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE: MCD) for over 21 years, where she served in a number of senior roles, including Interim Global General Counsel, US General Counsel, Europe General Counsel (based in Geneva, Switzerland), and Chief Commercial and Privacy Officer. Before joining McDonald’s, Mahrukh was an associate at Schwartz, Cooper, Greenberger & Krauss and a judicial clerk for Justice Rita Garman, Illinois Appellate Court – Fourth District.
Mahrukh is currently a member of the Board as well as Chair of the Development and Marketing Committee of Wellness House, a non-profit organization based in Hinsdale, Illinois, whose purpose is to provide no-cost programs to educate, support and empower people affected by cancer. She previously served on the Board, and as chair of the Nominations Committee, of APIA Scholars, a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., whose mission is to increase access to higher education for under-privileged Asian American students.
Mahrukh earned her B.A. from the University of Chicago and her J.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
