David Kelly
Executive Director, NBPA & CEO, PLYRS UNTD
David Kelly is the Executive Director of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) and CEO of PLYRS UNTD. He works on behalf of all NBA players to ensure their rights are protected and their value is multiplied.
He previously served as the NBPA’s Managing Director and General Counsel, where he led all legal matters and strategic direction for the NBPA, PLYRS UNTD and NBPA Foundation.
Prior to joining the NBPA, Kelly served as Chief Legal Officer, Business and Basketball and Chief Business Officer of Golden State Entertainment. During his tenure with the Warriors, he was instrumental in both the business and basketball operations. Kelly negotiated major sponsorship and licensing deals and oversaw the property acquisition and construction of Chase Center. He also established Golden State Entertainment (GSE), a content arm for film, music, and culture. On the basketball side, he managed the team's salary cap and all CBA-related matters.
Prior to joining the Warriors, Kelly was a partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP where he advised clients on acquisitions, securities law compliance, and corporate governance matters.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Morehouse College and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Illinois College of Law. Kelly also has a passion for music and was recently named a Top Player in Music & Sports by Billboard magazine.
